Newport News Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health treatment for males and females, ages 11-18, in a safe and secure, therapeutic environment.

Comprehensive Assessment Program (CAP)

The Comprehensive Assessment Program (CAP) currently serves male and female clients between the ages of 11-18. It is a time-limited program that provides expert evaluation and treatment of youth who have complex emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric symptoms. This specialized program assists parents, guardians, and other involved individuals in answering critical questions regarding their adolescent, such as understanding their presenting symptoms and determining the best treatment options for success.

The CAP program is designed to stabilize clients who may be experiencing significant impairment in their thinking, mood or behavioral functioning. Participants receive specialized therapeutic interventions and programming in a highly structured environment. After the 60-90 day period of evaluation, community partners receive a comprehensive final report that conveys assessment findings and makes recommendation as to the appropriate plan of continuing care for the client.
