The Academy at Newport News
The Academy at Newport News Behavioral Health Center provides
alternative educational programs for students ages 5 -21, in a highly
structured therapeutic environment who have emotional, learning and
mental disabilities. We strive to provide a positive and successful
educational experience for our students by assisting them in developing
their skills and academic learning strategies. Our goal is to return
each student back to the local community.
The Academy follows the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL’s) and
individual educational plans (IEP’s). Each student will receive an
educational assessment upon admission as well as the development of a
treatment plan that will help meet their educational and behavioral
goals.
